 Anderson Power Products takes great pride in designing and manufacturing robust and high quality electrical/electronic connectors. As a result, APP® has performed a thorough review of the PP4x Signal connector system as well as examining its usage in field applications. The conclusions reached were that the PP4x connector achieves its intended goal but is not as robust and user friendly as is necessary to meet APP’s high standards.

 As a result, APP® has launched the PPMX product line to serve as a replacement for the PP4x in SPEC Pak™ applications requiring signal contacts. The PPMX provides robust machined gold plated contacts and a simple, two piece housing design that improves connector performance and simplifies assembly. The PPMX is a direct replacement for the PP4x in Spec Pak™ applications and does not require any additional changes or components. It is important to note that the PPMX is not intermateable with PP4x. PPMX does not have the “dovetails” as does the PP4x so it can not be blocked with standard PP15/45 housings or be used with traditional Powerpole® accessories such as Powerpole® Paks or Powerpole® Clamp kits. The PPMX contacts also require a different crimp tool and die than the PP4x.

APP® recommends customers start the process of transitioning to an alternate solution as soon as possible and we are available to consult with customers to provide alternate solutions.

Timeline:

• Effective 5/30/2012 PP4x will be discontinued.
• APP® will continue to support existing design wins until 5/30/2012 to provide customers time to transition to alternate solutions (in most cases PPMX).
• Last orders for PP4x must be placed by 4/30/2012
• All orders for PP4x must ship by 5/30/2012
