Anderson Power Introduces Constructed Cable Assemblies

New pre-crimped cable assemblies with SB® Connectors provide a convenient and customizable turn-key DC power cable solution.

STERLING, Mass. – Anderson Power™, an international leader in high-power interconnect solutions, is expanding its product portfolio to include constructed cable assemblies. The pre-crimped cable assemblies provide a convenient, reliable solution for maintaining proper contact between cables, terminal lugs, and connectors.

Cable assemblies, also known as wire harnesses, play an essential role in connecting electric equipment to their chargers. Each assembly includes a ring terminal on one end, which is permanently secured to the charger’s circuit board. The other end features the connector designed to plug into equipment such as forklifts. The manufacturer’s approved crimp tooling should always be used to ensure performance.

“Improper crimps and lack of strain relief are some of the most common causes of failed connections and overheating,” said Sam Jaros, Product Manager at Anderson Power. “By integrating verified crimps and enhanced strain relief, our new cable assemblies ensure proper contact is maintained and allow our customers to power their latest electric designs with confidence.”

“The use of tooling solutions not tested by Anderson Power can affect not only performance, but also safety agency approvals,” explained Sam Jaros.

Designed for reliable charging of new electrified material handling, ground support, industrial/commercial, and construction equipment, wire harnesses from Anderson Power are pre-crimped to SB® Series connectors using verified tooling. This all-in-one design eliminates the need to purchase expensive, specialized crimp tools and ensures secure connections that meet the manufacturer’s standards.

Each cable assembly also includes a cable clamp for added strain relief. The clamp securely fixes the power contacts within the connector housing, preventing misalignment caused by cable movement. This feature improves connection security and can extend the lifespan of the connector and overall assembly.

Anderson Power wire harnesses feature trusted SB Series connectors on one end and ring terminals on the other. SB connectors are UL-rated up to 600V with silver-plated contacts for low resistance and high durability. The connector housing is engineered with a tough PBT/PC blend for harsh chemical resistance and long-lasting performance. The PBT/PC blend is a premium housing material that is even more protective than standard connector housings.

Anderson Power Cable Assemblies reduce cable strain

The new cable assemblies feature durable, UL3311-listed EPDM cables. They are eight feet long and available in four standard sizes:

  • Cable Assemblies with SB 175: The smallest cable size (1/0) includes a SB 175 connector on one end and terminal lug on the other. This size supports up to 600V and 250A.
  • Cable Assemblies with SB 350: The three larger cable sizes (2/0, 3/0, 4/0) include a SB 350 connector on one end and terminal lug on the other. They support up to 600V and 300A (2/0), 340A (3/0), or 400A (4/0).

Outside of the standard sizes, custom cable assemblies are also available. Customers are encouraged to inquire with Anderson Power representatives to find the right fit for their needs.
